Job description

The research is part of an EU-funded research project ‘Innovation, Additive Manufacturing, and Responsible Research and Innovation’ (IAMRRI), which will investigate the emerging, rather complex and highly dynamic Additive Manufacturing (AM) innovation system in the European Union which represents networks of innovation value chains and features new business strategies and cooperation models. The scientific goal of the candidate’s research is to explore and explain the influence of firms’ competitive strategies and the collaboration networks in which they participate to improve the innovative performance in the technical field of Additive Manufacturing. Innovation performance is defined in terms of both market and societal acceptance. Ultimately, the PhD candidate will help to obtain this goal and its expected positive societal impacts. The practical focus is on additive manufacturing applications in the medical and automotive sector.

Requirements

We are looking for a candidate with an M.Sc. in innovation management or an adjacent field of management, engineering or economics. The PhD needs to be a thorough researcher able to report in research papers published in scientific journals. The candidate will be requested to teach and supervise students in the master program Management of Technology.

Fixed-term contract: 4 years.

Faculty Technology, Policy and Management

The Faculty of Technology, Policy and Management contributes to sustainable solutions for technical challenges in society by combining the insights from engineering with the humanities and the social sciences.  The department of Values, Technology and Innovation combines social science and humanities to better understand factors that affect technology acceptance and how to incorporate such factors (e.g. values) in technology. It comprises 43 tenured faculty members and 56 post-docs and PhDs. A significant amount of the research is devoted to responsible innovation and value sensitive design. The faculty also teaches in the bachelor and master programmes.
