Job description

IHS, Erasmus University Rotterdam has a vacancy for a competent Research Assistant (1.0 FTE), for the period of 1 year, starting as soon as possible, with a possible extension for a second year.

The ideal candidate will be an efficiently working professional able to undertake a variety of tasks, including the support to research projects and education, as well as to the administration and organization of the team. This person will be comfortable working in a multi-tasking environment, with a high degree of attention to detail and will be enthusiastic about incorporating new and effective ways to achieve our goals.
 
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
– The organizing, coordinating, and managing of administrative issues within and with other departments
– Prepare literature reviews and articles, reports and presentations
– Assist in publishing research findings in peer-reviewed journals
– Assisting in data collection and analysis of datasets, review data to ensure completeness and accuracy of information
– Support the monitoring of projects and budget
– Keep time records
– Assist with the preparation of educational tasks, including training workshops and evaluation strategies
– Guide the work of students, assist in teaching and seminars.

Requirements

– Completed degree(s) from an Urban Management / Urban Planning Masters or equivalent
– Proven experience both with research and administrative organization
– Thorough understanding of management procedures
– Strong research, writing, analytical, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
– Ability to work independently on project goals, as well as working in the team
– Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
– Knowledge of relevant other languages is an asset
– Proficiency in MS Office software

Conditions of employment

We offer a challenging job in an international and dynamic work environment. The salary is in accordance with the responsibilities of the job and is subject to training and experience and corresponds to Scale 7 CAO NU. IHS has attractive employment conditions, which include a holiday allowance of 8.0%, an end-of-year bonus of 8.3% and 30 annual vacation days in case of a full workweek.
