Job description

The Assistant Professor of Consumer Behavior/Marketing of Health Innovations will conduct research and publish on the interfaces between consumer behavior/marketing, technological innovation, design, and health. He or she will be part of the research project Pride and Prejudice, which is carried out by a consortium of the Dutch universities of technical science. This program aims to generate new scientific knowledge and innovative technology, including new frameworks for behaviour change, systems to remotely monitor health parameters and behaviour, and design approaches to develop interventions that persuade people to make healthy choices about what they eat and to what extent they are physically active, in order to adopt a healthier lifestyle. The research in this specific tenure track position focuses on how to create acceptance among a large market segment for products and services that enhance a healthy lifestyle.

Furthermore, the Assistant Professor will lecture in our three-year bachelor program and in our two-year Master program in Strategic Product Design (SPD), which has been selected repeatedly by Business Week as one of the most innovative design programs in the world.

Requirements

You have a PhD and some teaching experience in consumer behavior/marketing, industrial design or psychology. We are especially interested in candidates with expertise in areas such as innovation/technology acceptance, health interventions, and (design for) behavior change.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: Tenure track.

 At the start of the tenure-track you will be appointed as Assistant Professor for the duration of six years. Section leader, department leaders and you will agree upon expected performance and (soft) skills. You will receive formal feedback on performance and skills during annual assessment meetings and the mid-term evaluation. If the performance and skills are evaluated positively at the end of the tenure track, you will be appointed in a permanent Assistant Professor position.

The Assistant Professor will be integrated in the MCR section.
