Job description

Pneumoviruses such as the Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV), that was identified in 2001 in our department, are causative agents of severe respiratory tract infections, primarily in young children. Treatment options for infections with these viruses are limited. A better understanding of the interaction between these viruses and the host immune system will lead to a rational design of treatment options, with specific emphasis on HMPV.

Therefore, Erasmus MC is recruiting a PhD to study the interaction between Pneumoviruses and the host immune system. The PhD will employ virological, molecular, immunological and biochemical techniques to increase our fundamental understanding of how Pneumovirus evade the innate and acquired immune response of their host.
