Job description

Communication Science at the University of Amsterdam (UvA) concentrates on the production, uses, and consequences of information and communication in informing, persuading, and entertaining citizens. There are currently four program groups: Persuasive Communication, Political Communication & Journalism, Corporate Communication, and Entertainment Communication.

The Department of Communication Science is looking for lecturers in Communication Science and/or Methods of Communication Science. The lecturer is involved in teaching regular courses in Dutch and/or English.

The College offers a didactic course for lecturers that starts in the last week of August. The teaching starts in the first week of September.

Requirements

The candidate we are looking for:

  • has a Master in Communication Science or a related field;
  • has good knowledge of communication science in general;
  • is able to teach in English and/or Dutch.

Conditions of employment

The lecturer (master level) is scale 10, ranging from €2,640 to €4,166 gross per month (based on 38 hours per week). This position is for a fixed term (27 August 2018 to 18 January ). The Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities is applicable.

Communication Science

With 1,400 undergraduate and graduate students, Communication Science is among the biggest departments of the University of Amsterdam. The College of Communication and the Graduate School of Communication offer a Bachelor and Master program, a European joint degree program in Journalism and a Research Master, the only of its kind in the Netherlands. The research is organized in the Amsterdam School of Communication Research (ASCoR). ASCoR hosts the Research Priority Area Communication of the UvA (awarded in 2011). Communication Science at the University of Amsterdam received a top ranking in the 2016 QS World University Rankings by Subject.
