Job description

National and European funding schemes are an important way to boost both frontier and applied research. It is the EUR’s ambition to keep increasing the quantity and quality of its funding applications in the coming years. The importance of personal research grants from the European Research Council (ERC) and the Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research (NWO) among all grants is substantial. For several years, at most schools at the EUR at least one person has been available to coach researchers who want to apply for grants. The Programme Research Services will complement this knowledge and experience with more specialized expertise, focusing on specific types of grants, and making it available across the university. As a grant officer specialized in personal grants from ERC and NWO (Talent Scheme of Veni, Vidi, Vici grants) you will work in close collaboration with the grant officers in the schools and other specialists in the Programme Research Services.

Your main responsibilities will be:

  • To identify key success factors to obtain grants from ERC and NWO’s Talent Scheme, based on analysis of previous applications and other information

  • To coordinate campus-wide information sessions about these grants

  • To help the grant support officers in the schools to identify suitable candidates at an early stage

  • To provide necessary coaching and support to applicants for these grants

  • To coordinate training sessions for applicants of these grants, including mock interviews

  • To contribute to the coordination of the community grant support

  • To report to senior management of research at the EUR on the university performance concerning these personal research grants

  • To maintain external contacts with colleagues at other universities and relevant agencies to anticipate new developments.
