Job description

The University of Twente (UT) invites senior academics with a strong interest in education policy to apply for the position of full professor in Institutional Aspects of (Higher) Education and Technology at the department of CHEPS (Center for Higher Education Policy Studies: https://www.utwente.nl/en/bms/cheps/) within the Faculty of Behavioural Management and Social sciences (BMS).

You will address the challenges confronting the design, implementation and evaluation of 21st century educational and research policy and practice on different levels - from the classroom and organisational level to the national and international levels. Using different disciplinary perspectives, you will study the functioning of educational institutions (i.e. schools, colleges, universities, etc.), sectors and systems in response to technological and educational developments as well as governmental steering mechanisms. You analyse how the enabling environments evolve and affect the behaviour of educational organisations, their staff and their students.

You will teach in the study programmes of BMS and professional training activities of CHEPS.

Requirements

You have:

  • A PhD in a field related to education policy and technology.
  • Expertise in the field of education policy, one or more of its constituent disciplines, comparative policy research, as evidenced by international publications and networks.
  • Ability and willingness for cross-disciplinary collaboration that supports the High Tech – Human Touch profile of the University of Twente.
  • Affinity with policy developments in the area of digitalisation of education and society.
  • Ability to support PhD researchers and junior staff.
  • Ability to acquire and co-ordinate multinational research grants and projects.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and capacity to connect, motivate and lead academics and departments.
  • A basic qualification in teaching for Dutch universities ('UTQ'), or willingness to obtain this.

Conditions of employment

We offer a full time tenured position as Professor with a competitive salary (maximum €9.563,- euro gross per month) and the intention to grant tenure after three years. You can find information about our excellent terms of employment at www.utwente.nl, such as:
