Job description
The Erasmus Centre for Study and Career Success makes use of an intervention programme that has shown to be been very successful in raising students’ academic performance and retention rate. It helps students to reach their full potential, and it reduces gender and ethnicity inequality in secondary and higher education. This intervention project had been in effect at RSM since 2011, and is currently being rolled out at other faculties, universities and secondary schools.
Our current researcher will go on maternity leave at the end of January 2019. Your starting date will be 1 January, 2019 to ensure proper transfer of knowledge and information between the two of you. Initially, the duration of this job will be four to six months, with the possibility of an extension.
The Centre is looking for a researcher who can:
prepare, valorise and carry out scientific research
collect, structure and analyse data
develop new methods, interventions and theories
guide and support team members such as project co-ordinators and student assistants
co-ordinate projects, including setting up new research plans, secure funding, carry out contract research
supervise students
plan and structure tasks
publish articles and present at conferences.
Required qualifications
Extensive experience with SPSS Statistics software
Preferably also experience with questionnaire software such as Qualtrics and Questback (Unipark)
Excellent written and spoken English and Dutch for internal and external communications (C1)
Leadership skills, decisiveness, people-oriented
Appreciation for academic research linked to real-world problems
Desire to create an impact on the academic community and society as a whole.
Employment conditions:
The conditions of employment correspond with the collective labour agreement for Dutch Universities (CAO NU). We offer a 0.8 FTE contract.
Salary is subject to training and experience and may vary from a minimum of € 2,588 gross per month up to a maximum of € 4,084 gross per month (scale 10 CAO NU), based on a full-time contract of 38 hours. Erasmus University Rotterdam has attractive employment conditions, which include a holiday allowance of 8 per cent, an end-of-year bonus of 8.3 per cent, and a generous number of vacation days.
