Job description

In September 2015, 193 member States of the United Nations adopted 17 new Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to make our world more prosperous, inclusive, sustainable and resilient. These SDGs represent an unprecedented opportunity for companies to align their strategies with the SDGs and in measuring and managing their contribution.

Recently we have seen that many companies have responded to these Global Goals by including them in their mission or long term ambition. We also see that organizations report about their contribution to the SDG. It is less clear however, if companies actually take their role to contribute to these Global Goals seriously by aligning strategy, business models, as well as their management accounting and control schemes to measure and manage their contribution to the realization of the SDGs.

The Accounting, Auditing & Control Group of the Erasmus School of Economics (ESE) will start a four years research project on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the uptake of the SDGs by companies.

Who we are: The Accounting, Auditing & Control Group of the Erasmus School of Economics (ESE) is rapidly developing and building a reputation for producing top level accounting research. Management accounting researchers examine issues such as performance evaluation processes, performance measure manipulation, non-financial (e.g., CSR) performance measurement and the effects of individual differences between managers on organizational outcomes. We are recruiting beginning of 2019 or by mutual agreement a
