At Erasmus University Rotterdam, the Erasmus Research Services is currently developing a coherent set of harmonized services across the university. During the preparation and execution of research projects, these services include support concerning legal issues, intelligence, data management and support to obtain grants among others. For each type of services communities of practice exist, consisting of support staff from relevant central offices and the various schools at the EUR. The communities are instrumental in the specification, implementation and adoption of new services. To facilitate its community Research Data Management, Erasmus Research Services is hiring a Coordinator Research Data Management (1fte).

Requirements

You operate on a strategic and tactical level. You have ample experience in Research Data Management at (international) universities, you are familiar with developments in the area and are able to pro-actively anticipate on upcoming developments.

Based on this knowledge and experience you bring the EUR to the next level of support for research data management, taking into account (inter-)national developments, legislation and technology. You translate these developments into policies and practices at the university. You manage projects to implement these developments.

Your most important competencies consist of building and maintaining connections between our academic and support staff in the different faculties and institutes, and the central services amongst which the university library group. As an enthusiastic colleague with a service oriented attitude, you are able to establish links between academic staff and available services to optimize use of skills and resources and create effective solutions so that requirements are being met. Within the Erasmus Research Services you will act as the community coordinator for Research Data Management, maintaining the community of practice around RDM. You also actively participate in networks outside of EUR, amongst which SURF-RCLDM and DANS-RDA-NL.

Knowledge, experience, competencies

  • Your educational background is equivalent to a Master in Information Studies, preferably with a specialization in Data Sciences
  • Overview and knowledge of (inter-)national RDM developments
  • Development and operationalization of products and services in the RDM domain within a university or other academic setting
  • GDPR and its consequences for the research domain
  • Experience with the RDM requirements in relation to the acquisition of external research support from NWO, EC etc.
  • You have experience with project management in complex organizations
  • Preparation of policy advice about RDM

Competencies:

  • You are a partner for researchers and policymakers
  • You are result driven, business oriented and pro-active
  • Expert knowledge of the English language (at least level C1 CEFR )

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: initially for one year. In case of good performance the contract may be extended or changed in a permanent contract.

Internationally-oriented and varied work within an enthusiastic team, with attractive fringe benefits in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities (CAO-NU). We offer a full-time contract (38 hours per week), initially for one year. In case of good performance the contract may be extended or changed in a permanent contract. Your remuneration will depend on the position, and within that your specific knowledge and experience, and will be calculated on the basis of full-time salary ranging between € 3.637,- and € 5.656,- gross per month (salary scale 11-12, CAO NU). Erasmus University Rotterdam offers attractive terms of employment, including a holiday allowance of 8%, a year-end payment of 8.3% and 41 holidays per year based on a full-time appointment. In addition, EUR takes part in the ABP pension scheme, and we also offer partially paid parental leave. Moreover, EUR staff members are allowed to make use of the EUR facilities, including the Erasmus Sports Centre and the University Library.
