The NSM houses seven disciplines: Business Administration, Public Administration, Political Science, Economics and Business Economics, Social and Political Sciences of the Environment, Human Geography, and Spatial Planning. The NSM strives for a multidisciplinary approach where possible. Altogether, the NSM employs 265 FTEs, 75% of whom are academic staff.

The study programmes are characterised by interactive teaching methods and stimulate students’ learning processes, particularly the development of academic skills. The Nijmegen School of Management currently has approximately 4,500 students. Its research activities fall under the responsibility of the interdisciplinary Institute for Management Research (IMR). Under the motto ‘Creating Knowledge for Society’, the IMR focuses on academic research into the development, design and effectiveness of the public and private structures that regulate, govern or manage human interactions.
The department of Economics and Business Economics consists of four Chairs: Economic Theory and Policy, International Economics, Finance, and Business Economics. The department is responsible for the development and quality of the Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes in economics, as well as for the courses in economics in the other study programmes offered by the faculty. What sets the Nijmegen curriculum in economics apart is that it is characterised by a multidisciplinary approach, whereby, in addition to the economics discipline, inspiration is sought from other areas.
