Job description

The main focus of the research is on value based healthcare in regional healthcare networks. Regional networks become more and more important in the movement towards delivering the right care at the right place. The assumption from Value Based Healthcare is that collaboration between care providers within these networks offers opportunities to improve the quality of care and to reduce costs. This PhD project aims to examine the extent to which regional networks lead to more value for the patient. You will have access to a large number of regional oncology networks in the Netherlands. Within this position, we expect you to conduct high quality case study research.

The empirical research will be conducted in close collaboration with several Dutch University Medical Centers that work together in the national Citrien program ‘Towards regional oncology networks’. You will be managing regional projects throughout the Netherlands in conjunction with regional project managers, aimed at improving oncological network care. The principles of Value Based Healthcare will be applied in these projects. Therefore, the quality in relation to the costs of the network must become visible and schematic. The measurement of quality and costs should be based on existing data and quality records. The development of models and measurement systems takes place in consultation with experts and stakeholders in the field of healthcare.
