As student counsellor, you work in the Counselling, Advice & Study Abroad (CASA) Team that is part of the Dean’s Office at EUC.
CASA’s mission is “to facilitate the best possible intrinsic development of our students in a safe environment, allowing them to maximize their performance”. CASA also infuses the students of the importance of our IPP-ethos, meaning that students are expected to be Informed, to be Prepared and to be Proactive.
Our counsellors give students 1-on-1 guidance and counselling, in both personal and academic issues, for example preparing students for the requirements of various transitions over the course of their studies at EUC (i.e. starting up, the binding study advice, declaring a Major, considering an exchange, preparing for the Capstone project).
The counsellors help designing and implementing relevant EUC policies, and signal and respond to the needs of the student cohorts (i.e. by identifying & sharing academic best practices, giving workshops and/or talks on relevant topics). They can advocate for a student when needed.
The work is done in close cooperation with the colleagues of the CASA-team, as well as with other colleagues within both EUC (such as the Office of Student and Educational Affairs, the Student Life Officer, the Examination Board and the Heads of the academic departments) and EUR (Student Psychologists and study advisers from other faculties) where necessary.
Ideally, you already have extensive experience as a student counsellor within an Institute of Higher Education, or similar experience in counselling, preferably students. You are flexible regarding work days, as you fully understand the need to have at least one Student Counsellor from the CASA-team on duty every day of the week, as well as sharing at least one fixed weekday that all Student Counsellors are available for work meetings and peer counselling.
