You will initiate emerging, cutting-edge genome modification technologies across the AMC/VUmc alliance, and advance our expertise in functional cancer genomics for target discovery. We aim to initiate a Cancer Center Amsterdam (CCA) CRISPR-Cas9 research facility that serves basic and translational cancer research labs throughout the entire CCA. The offered assignment embodies the start-up and implementation of this novel CCA facility.

Your tasks as CCA CRISPR facility officer include 1) the dissemination of state-of-the-art CRISPR-Cas9 knowledge and technology across the CCA, and 2) hands-on laboratory implementation of novel CRISP-Cas9 developments in relation to specific research projects, in collaboration with a team of CCA researchers at AMC and VUmc sites

 Specific research projects involve the optimization of precise gene editing in different cancer cell model systems, designing tools for controlled gene activation and inhibition, implementing dead-Cas9 based intracellular labeling and tracing methods, and CRISPR-Cas9 library development for functional genomic screens. The proposed projects are aimed at deepening our understanding of fundamental cancer biological processes, e.g. in relation to cancer immunology, oncogene function, biomarkers, or the identification of targetable genes in different cancer model systems.

- You are a top-qualified molecular biologist or genome biologist (PhD) with proven experience in the use of the CRISPR-Cas9 system in   mammalian cells. You are also keen on technology implementation and a strong innovator;

- You are experienced in the use and generation of (cancer) cell model systems, with an affinity for (cancer) genetics and functional genomic approaches;

- You have a strong affiliation with cancer research in a larger, multi-disciplinary organization of researchers and clinicians;

- You are a proven team player displaying excellent verbal and written communication skills in english;

- You are a highly structured organizer with ambition to combine scientific exploration and lab management.

• A fulltime (36-hour/week ) 4-year position for 3 years;

• Terms of employment according to University Medical Center collective agreements (UMC-CAO);

• You will be employed by AMC Medical Research BV, and work at the AMC as VUmc site in Amsterdam;

• A gross monthly salary in scale 10 ranging from EUR 3185,- to EUR 4194,- based on qualifications and experience;

• Vacation allowance of 8% and an allowance of 8.3% of the gross yearly salary payable at the end of the year.
