Job description

The Preclinical and Translational MRI group of the Department of Biomedical Engineering and Physics of the Academic Medical Center (AMC) in Amsterdam is hiring a PostDoc for a project on 19-Fluorine MRI of cardiac inflammation.

Inflammation is a key player in various heart diseases. Therefore, a noninvasive imaging method to provide information on the location, amount and dynamics of myocardial inflammation can significantly improve the patient’s outcome. Fluorine (19F) magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of fluorine-containing nanoparticles that home to sites of inflammation holds great promise for specific and quantitative assessment of cardiac inflammation. The postdoctoral project involves the development of MRI methodology for sensitive and quantitative detection of 19F in the inflamed mouse myocardium. The project is part of a collaboration with the Radboud University Nijmegen and various industrial partners, including MR Solutions, Medis medical imaging systems, MR Coils, and Fujifilm Visualsonics.
