Functiebeschrijving

This PhD project is part of a nationally funded project "Collaboration for New Treatments in Acute Stroke: CONTRAST". The overarching aim of the CONTRAST project is to improve outcome of patients with stroke. This specific Ph.D. project aims to develop and validate image analysis techniques for quantitative imaging biomarkers for stroke. The focus is on automated methods that can accurately quantify various biomarkers, such as those that can identify early ischemic changes and follow-up infarct core volume, collateral capacity and the effect of interventions. These analysis methods, complemented with other analysis methods identified in the project, will be integrated in image processing pipelines, to facilitate standardized analysis of all imaging data that is being acquired by clinical consortium partners in the project. In this project, the PhD student will work together with other image analysis researchers as well as with clinical researchers.

Functie-eisen

You should be an independent and highly motivated researcher with an MSc or MEng degree in a technical domain (e.g. Computer Science, Physics, Biomedical Engineering, Mathematics). Good programming skills are required. Experience with machine learning, image processing, and medical imaging is an advantage. You should be able to communicate and work with researchers from various clinical and technical fields.

Being able to present a certificate of good conduct is a condition for the appointment.

Arbeidsvoorwaarden

The position is available immediately. You will receive a temporary position for 4 years. The gross monthly salary is € 2.266,- in the 1st year and increases to € 2.903,- in the 4th year (scale OIO).
