As an EUC Tutor you will be assigned to guide up to four groups of approximately 10 students each, in one or two Academic Core courses, during a so-called Quad period in the academic year of EUC. You are required to do so in a way consistent with EUC’s educational philosophy of problem-based learning. EUC designates the weekly sessions, in which you are required to guide your assigned students in their learning, as tutorials.
Additionally, EUC tasks its tutors:
The vacant position is part-time (0.5 fte). The new Tutor is invited to join Erasmus University College in August 2017. Contracts will initially be running for a period of one year, with a possible extension.
Please note that the workload for a Tutor is not evenly distributed across the academic year. Do expect a relative higher workload during the Quads and a relative lower workload during the remaining months, so plan accordingly. Tutors are also required to be flexible with their working days, as the scheduling by EUC of all tutorials is dominant and by its nature quite inflexible. As it is highly disruptive and next to impossible for EUC to change its schedule you will be required to ensure and confirm your availability for all tutorials. Weekly work meetings for preparation, coordination and reflective purposes require your attendance as well.
The conditions of employment comply with the ‘CAO Nederlandse Universiteiten/Collective Agreement Netherlands Universities (CAO NU)’. Salary is subject to know-how and experience and will be within salary scale 10 (starting at 2,476 Euro gross salary per month for a fulltime position). Starting salaries tend to be near the lower end of the scale.
