Job description

Erasmus School of Economics (ESE) is looking for a PhD candidate for the project: “Designing sustainable incentives to encourage prevention and health behaviour”.

This project is hosted by ESE and are affiliated with Tinbergen Institute, one of ESE’s graduate schools. ESE has a long tradition of academic and applied research, and is a leading academic institution, hosting some of the world’s foremost economists in all major areas of economics and business economics.

Requirements

Potential PhD candidates at ESE hold a (Research) Master’s degree in a discipline relevant to the PhD project, have obtained excellent study results, and are highly motivated to do scientific research. Erasmus University Rotterdam requires its scientific staff to have an excellent command of English (minimum CERF level C1).

Furthermore candidates are required to the Tinbergen Institute (Tinbergen admission requirements)

Conditions of employment

Our PhD projects are fully funded and salaried positions for 3 or 4 years (depending on pre-education), meaning that appointed PhD candidates are employees (promovendus) of Erasmus University Rotterdam. Salary and benefits are in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities (CAO-NU). Monthly salary for PhD candidates is € 2.222 up to € 2.840 in the final year (2017 figures, gross and fixed amounts). The candidate's performance is evaluated after 18 months and if positive, the contract is extended for the remainder of the project.

The starting date of the appointment will be as soon as possible after the recruitment deadline.

Contract type: Temporary, 3 or 4 years (depending on pre-education)
