The position
A core responsibility of the Professor Changing Role of Europe will be to build expertise of teaching staff to enrich the curriculum. In addition, the professor can contribute to the development of courses, for example minors, but also electives and majors. This will have to be in close collaboration with the various related programmes. The professor and their team can also provide input into our final projects and dissertations through themes, projects and supervision. Finally, both also importantly, the professor should contribute towards the development of complementary extracurricular events and activities on European themes. These will complement and enrich the curriculum. They will offer students and staff opportunities to debate and apply their knowledge outside the classroom. This will enrich the culture and community on campus.
The Professor in The Changing Role of Europe has a number of responsibilities:
We are looking for an experienced researcher who holds a good scientific/research reputation, also based on publications relevant to the area of the research group. The candidate is prepared and able to collaborate with the research platform and other internal and external stakeholders, and to direct the efforts of the research group to the innovation of knowledge and professional practice in the area of The Changing Role of Europe.

The research group is thus a nodal point in internal THUAS networks interested in the study of Europe from a political, economic, cultural, legal and social perspective. Equally important for the success of the research group are the external networks, for which the new research group can build on the good relations that were already established by the research group European Integration as well as through networks established by other THUAS staff. A research group on The Changing Role of Europe is well placed in The Hague. The Hague is a very internationally oriented city as well as the governmental centre of The Netherlands. Both aspects of The Hague make it a very suitable location for this research group on Europe. Its close proximity to Brussels further strengthens opportunities for European research.
