Job description

The Methodology of Educational Sciences Research Group is in search of a candidate who will conduct research and provide teaching assistance. The candidate will prepare a doctorate under the supervision of Prof. Mathias Decuypere and will provide teaching assistance in the Bachelor and Master Programs. 

Project

The doctorate is situated in ongoing research lines on qualitative methodology. Inspired by the observation that processes of digitization offer exceptional possibilities for educational research, the Research Group conducts research on the impact of digitization on the educational field, and this especially in view of how qualitative studies can research this. These research lines combine methodological, theoretical and empirical interests. The candidate will prepare a PhD in which innovative qualitative methodologies will be developed for the educational field. 

Next to this, the candidate will offer teaching assistance for 1/3 of his/her time.

Requirements

Profile

  • Master in educational sciences with broad knowledge of qualitative research, with excellent study results
  • Proficient in Dutch and English 
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Independent, critical and investigatory attitude
  • Last year students can also apply 

Conditions of employment

Offer

  • Full time, fully-funded PhD position for 6 years. The appointment is initially for two years and will be extended up till 6 years given satisfactory achievement. 
  • You will work in a stimulating and challenging environment with a high degree of flexibility and autonomy.
