Tenure trackers start as assistant professors. Your tenure track is expected to lead to a promotion to a tenured position as associate professor and eventually to grow into the role of a full professor. We focus on talent by investing in your professional and personal development. There is a strong focus on coaching and training. A special mentor program is offered with fellow Tenure Trackers in a peer group, in order to develop research, education, and managerial skills.
We offer a 6 year term position, starting towards the end of 2017, with the possibility of a tenure position based on performance. Salary range from €3,475 to €4,757 gross per month (pay scale 11, in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities).

LIACS, the Leiden Institute of Advanced Computer Science, is the Computer Science Institute of the Faculty of Science of Leiden University. According to our recent research visitation LIACS is one of the foremost computer science departments of the Netherlands. The Quantum Software Consortium is a collaboration of Quantum Computing Researchers at Amsterdam, Delft, and Leiden. The scientist will play a leading role in Quantum Software Research of Leiden University and will collaborate closely with our partners in the Consortium at QuTech in Delft and QuSoft in Amsterdam. For this tenure track position we are especially interested in Quantum Machine Learning algorithms, although exceptional candidates in all fields of Quantum Software are encouraged to reflect.

QuTech is a research center in quantum science and technology, and National Icon of the Netherlands, whose goal is to realize a Quantum Internet and Quantum Computer. QuTech is located at TU Delft, as a close collaboration among several disciplines (Physics, Electrical Engineering, and Computer Science), TNO (Center for applied engineering research), and industrial partners (Microsoft and Intel). QuTech encompasses experimental, theoretical and engineering research needed realize quantum technologies, ranging from the realization of quantum computing devices to the development of new protocols and software. Leiden and Delft collaborate on Quantum Computing, and the candidate will spend time interacting with researchers at both Universities.

QuSoft Amsterdam is the new Dutch research center for quantum software. Its mission is to develop new protocols, algorithms and applications that can be run on small and medium-sized prototypes of a quantum computer. The main focus of QuSoft is on the development of quantum software, which requires fundamentally different techniques and approaches from conventional software.
