The LRI Officer

  • provides (bio)medical technical and scientific input to assist the LRI research proposal selection and support process
  • maintains relationships and expands the network with partners, contributors and funded researchers of the LRI
  • administers content management of the LRI website and other profiling opportunities for the LRI
  • assists projectholders in raising additional co-funding for their approved research projects
  • assists colleagues in the small LRI team in organising meetings and in PR and communications.

Functie-eisen

The LRI Technical Officer is a team player. S/he will have a degree in biomedical science or public health. A high level of fluency in both spoken and written English is essential. A proven track record of success in institutional fundraising for scientific research will be considered an advantage.

Arbeidsvoorwaarden

Job location
The post holder will work from the NLR Office in Amsterdam. S/he will need to live within reasonable travel distance of Amsterdam. The LRI Officer may have to travel internationally. A post holder with a foreign nationality will need to have a valid work permit for the European Union.

The LRI Officer will work together with the small LRI team, placed within the Technical department of NLR; members of the LRI Steering Committee, and with scientists, applicants and funded project holders.

Scope and salary
The position is for 32 hours per week. The salary will depend on relevant qualifications and experience and has a maximum of € 4.482 (on full time basis).

Timing 
Employment will start as soon as possible. The employment contract will initially be for one year, but may be renewable depending on achievements and other circumstances.

The LRI is a combined venture of the Netherlands Leprosy Relief (Leprastichting / NLR), American Leprosy Missions (ALM), effect:hope, German Leprosy and Tuberculosis Relief Association (GLRA) and The Leprosy Mission International (TLMI). Guided by a joint policy with clearly defined research priorities, the five partners have established a joint fund to support leprosy research.
