Functiebeschrijving

We are looking for a PhD candidate that supports us in addressing an imperative problem for contemporary hospitals: how to systematically enhance hospital performance while operating in a turbulent environment? The basic assumption of this PhD-research is that information systems and information technology (IS/IT) will only be of particular value for hospitals if leveraged appropriately to support or enable critical organizational dynamic capabilities in turbulent environments.
The candidate is also expected to participate for 10 to 15% of his/her time in educational activities within our master Business Process Management and IT and potentially the Bachelor Information Sciences. Also, valorization activities form a considerable part of the daily activities of the candidate.

Functie-eisen

Preferably the candidate holds a MSc degree in (1) Information Sciences, Information Systems or Medical Informatics. But candidates with a MSc degree in (2) Management and/or Health Management Sciences are also invited to apply. However, concerning first category, candidates should be able to demonstrate affinity with organizational/management issues. Candidates within the latter category should demonstrate affinity with information systems issues. In general, candidates must have an affinity with the clinical setting within the Netherlands (specifically hospitals) and preferably practical experience within hospital and/or the healthcare setting in general. Teaching experience and publications are not required, but are considered an advantage if the candidate can demonstrate experience in these areas.

Arbeidsvoorwaarden

The PhD student will be initially appointed for a period of 12 months. The appointment will be extended to four years when progress and performance are good. The salary is € 2.191,= gross per month in the first year and is expected to increase to € 2.801,= in the fourth year, for a fulltime appointment, contingent on satisfactory performance

The Open Universiteit provides good secondary benefits such as training, mobility, part-time employment and paid parental leave.

Dienstverband: Temporary, Temporary position for 4 years.
