In order to further strengthen FEB’s communication we are looking for a new Communications Officer. The ideal candidate is someone who has experience in the field of external communications. The officer will focus on a variety of target groups, such as prospective students and staff and also external stakeholders. The Faculty’s communications & marketing plan gives an important framework for this role. The tasks mainly focus on writing content and information, new channels, policymaking, interviews, videos and the online experience of our external target groups. The officer will also help to work on and develop policy that strengthens the reputation and positioning of FEB. Other responsibilities include leading or participating in communication projects in the field and connecting with stakeholders within and outside FEB (e.g. students, staff, researchers, programme directors, departmental heads, board members and the Central Communications Office of the University. The officer will report to the Head of MIC (also Head of ECS).

Requirements

Because our current Communications Officer is leaving, we are looking for a new colleague, a real team player. The new colleague will mainly focus on external communications. The following skills, abilities and qualifications are required:
- university level, Dutch HBO or bachelor’s degree; preferably trained in the field of communications
- independent, proactive and creative
- affinity with the area of Economics and Business
- excellent proficiency in English language
- flexible and client oriented
- good team worker, with a results-oriented and creative attitude and excellent communication and collaboration skills (including intercultural skills)
- demonstrable experience in project work
- demonstrable communication experience (website, campaigns, press releases, videos, interviews, key messages, new media).

Important roles: writer, motivator, team player and networker.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 12 months.

The University of Groningen offers, depending on qualifications and experience, a gross monthly salary between € 2,465 and € 3,292 (scale 8 CLA Dutch Universities) based on a full-time position, excluding 8% holiday allowance and 8.3% end-of-year bonus and participation in a pension scheme for employees. The initial appointment is for one year, with the possibility of extension depending on performance.

Faculty of Economics and Business

The Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) has approximately 6,500 students and 650 staff members who form an informal, personal and inspiring academic community. 20% of our students and 25% of our staff are international. The Department of Marketing, International Affairs and Communications (MIC) of FEB supports and advises the Faculty Board, the programme directors and the departmental heads on developing and improving FEB’s position with regard to external relations and its education and research. Communication is an important field within our department. MIC has around 20 members of staff and provides support in such areas as internationalisation, marketing and recruitment, internal and external communication, video production, event organization and research communication. The Department is part of Education and Communication Services (ECS), which also includes the Exchange Office, the Student Administration Office, Study Advice and Educational Quality.
