Job description

This is a position funded by a Startimpuls awarded to ‘Measurement and Detection’ in the context of the Dutch National Science Agenda. Measurement of the environment, health and food is transitioning from analyses within an enclosed laboratory/clinical environment to the outdoors, with small devices that are easy to use by untrained personnel. This transition to citizen science will lead to considerable changes in the properties of analytical data. You will work on the development of quantitative data analysis of existing data collected with such small devices. You will also work on the analysis of collected data together with other researchers, who are developing and testing new analysers in exciting environmental, food and healthcare projects.

Faculty of Science

The Department of Analytical Chemistry is a large research group exclusively focusing on chemometrics, the ‘chemical data science’. We aim to enhance and increase the functionality of analytical technology through quantitative data analysis methodology. The department currently consists of 5-9 PhD candidates, three postdoctoral researchers and several guest researchers from academia and industry. In our research we work closely together with partners from industry and governmental bodies in the application of our chemometric methods in the quantitative analysis of health, the environment, and important industrial chemical processes. Working with us means maintaining contact with many different researchers from various fields and conducting academic research in several projects of societal relevance.
