Technological and social developments follow each other at a rapid pace. They have a significant impact on companies and the regions in which these companies are located. The Regional Development Research Group together with businesses, government institutes, organisations and students focuses on:

Research into the critical success factors and characteristics of a region that stimulate, initiate and maintain significant economic activity.

Partnerships are essential. The lecturer develops the research agenda based on the questions from the professional field. This is done in close consultation with the Saxion degree programmes. The research is conducted with support from lecturer/researchers and students where possible. In this way the research group educates the next generation of professionals who will make a contribution to sustainable economic activities.

The lecturer will work together with other lecturers from the different domains within the joint research programme for the economic domain and so formulates their own research agenda and the corporate research agenda of Saxion. This applies in particular to the Business Creation Research Group which was developed in cohesion with the Regional Development Research Group. The research groups in the economic domain are developed, managed and supported by a shared vision of the relationship between the professional field, education and research groups.

• PhD, preferably in a topic in the field of economic regional development and related to the theme of business creation and/or development
• an active international networker
• able to implement applied research for educationally relevant programmes and projects that are primarily externally funded
• a builder and connector who can provide inspirational leadership for the knowledge network responsible for financial results
• creative, and strategically innovative with a good sense of reality, team focus, and demand-orientation.

• knowledge of and an affinity for university of applied sciences education? (this is an advantage)
• the ability to inspire lecturers and students? - this is a requirement.

Then you will:

•  formulate the research agenda together with the degree programmes and professional field, programme its implementation, and make the results available to education, the professional field and to society;
• be a part of the educational environment and make a contribution to research education;
• start the dialogue with other degree programmes and stimulate the promotion of the expertise of staff and the attitude and skills for engaging in applied research;
• be responsible for the acquisition, implementation and publication of research projects related to business models. The needs and demands of the Oost-Nederland region and Euregio Enschede/Gronau are leading. These activities are conducted in partnership with the business community and other research institutions and contribute to the corporate research agenda of Saxion;
• maintain contact with companies, branch organisations, universities and research institutes within and outside of the Netherlands. In this position you promote knowledge valorisation between Saxion and the business community or organisations in the region by activating the links in the innovation process to enable favourable innovation and knowledge valorisation;
• provide leadership to the Regional Development Research Group.. This research group consists of: the lecturer and their knowledge network made up of highly educated individuals and, primarily, independent lecturers/researchers;
• working together with the headof the School of Commerce & Entrepreneurship to ensure a good composition for this knowledge network;
• managing the order book of the Regional Development Research Group.

Fixed-term contract: 4 years.

A position as Lector 2. The duration of this research group is four years. The duration of the lecturer appointment at this research group is therefore a maximum of four years. This is defined by a one-year contract, which will be extended into a three-year contract depending on performance. Depending on your knowledge and experience, your gross monthly salary will be 6,940.60 maximum (salary scale 15 in the collective labour agreement for the higher education sector [cao-hbo]), based on a full working week. In addition, you will receive a holiday allowance of 8% and an additional month's salary. Saxion aims for diversity amongst its team members. This is a varied position with space for personal input and development. An assessment may be part of the selection procedure.
