The endowed chair value based educational leadership is established by Tilburg University and PentaNova at TIAS School for Business and Society.

TIAS is the business school of Tilburg University and Eindhoven University of Technology and therefore has a strong academic basis. We make TIAS research accessible for our participants. We offer a broad and flexible portfolio of MBAs, Executive Masters, Company Specific Programs, Master Classes and PhD. Yearly we welcome 2,400 participants from 25 countries. Penta Nova is an alliance of 6 universities for Applied Sciences (CHE Ede, Marnix Academy Utrecht, Hogeschool Leiden, Driestar educatief Gouda, Viaa Zwolle, InHolland), which was founded in 2009. Penta Nova offers school leadership programs to teachers and schoolleaders in primary, secondary and vocational education.

The collaborating institutes are situated across the country. In offering the management training, each institute utilizes its own expertise and knowledge. These institutions all offer value based education and most of them have a Christian denomination identity.

In this particular professorship Verus, the interest group for Christian and Catholic education, is involved as well.

Description of the research subjects of this chair:

The research subject of this endowed chair regards value driven leadership in education. Key ingredients are moral purpose, values, leadership, personal drives in the context of school leadership.

Goal of this research is knowledge of and insight in the functioning of leaders in education who seek inspiration in moral values and who want to develop their school from this perspective.

The knowledge obtained will contribute to the public discourse about school leadership, moral content and quality of schools. This discourse takes the form of lecturing, writing and participation in public deliberation on educational policy.

Besides the Endowed Professorship (0,2 fte), the candidate will become the Academic Director of the Master Educational Leadership (Lector position for 0,6 fte), a Master which is being offered by Penta Nova. This means that the Lector is responsible for the quality of the educational programme, is supervising the quality of both the education and the educators. The Lector is responsible for performing research in the field of value based leadership, building a network of educators participating in this research and raising funds for research. The Lector ensures that the Master programme is up to date. In conclusion the Lector will teach in the Master programme and provide seminars and classes in the field.

• The candidate has communicative and social competences needed for building a relevant network in the field of research, of practice and of education.

• The candidate has a publication track record in professional journals in the domain of Educational Leadership.
• The candidate has an excellent ability to collaborate in knowledge construction, in educational development and in sharing knowledge.
• The candidate has experience in lecturing and coordinating education and also in supervising theses and Phd-students.
