We are looking for new colleagues for the Quality and Safety research group within the expertise area Earth, Environmental and Life Sciences. This area of expertise is characterized by the unity of earth, environmental and life sciences. We focus on various fields including healthy and safe food, protection against chemical and biological agents, tailor-made drugs, quality of the environment, external security, alternatives to animal testing, sustainable energy, air and soil modeling as well as the exploration and production of oil and gas.
The Quality and Safety research group develops scientifically based, practical solutions especially in the area of hazardous substances, food safety and biomedical innovation. Together with universities, research institutes, government and industrial parties, we aim to be leading in our field. TNO is looking for enthusiastic medior researcher to work on projects in field of safety and health with focus on safe use of chemicals and nanomaterials.
You will work on the development of innovative methods to assess and manage the risk of exposure to chemicals such as nanomaterials. Key focal areas are risk assessment and modeling (hazard and exposure). You will integrate your knowledge about risk assessment in a life cycle approach for nanomaterials. You will contribute to our strategy to be excellent in the development of risk assessment models (such as Stoffenmanager nano) to reduce the risks of exposure, and more specifically prevent or limit the occurrence of occupational diseases.
Depending on your experience, you will participate or coordinate (multidisciplinary) research projects, (participate in) writing project proposals, report, present and publish the results in scientific media and participate in scientific discussions with (international) experts from various fields, both within TNO and outside. You will also monitor new developments in the field. You will maintain an international network in the field of chemical risk research, material innovations and occupational health.
TNO is looking for candidates with a relevant Master#s or PhD degree (or several years work experience) who have knowledge of health risks of chemicals. You are familiar with risk assessment, exposure assessment and (occupational) health sciences. Affinity with nanomaterials and modeling is an advantage. We are looking for an enthusiastic team player who is pro-active and #self starting#, creative and innovative. Good communicative skills (Dutch and English) both verbal and written are important. Experience with writing grant proposals is a clear advantage.
