Functiebeschrijving

You will elaborate a philosophical account of Meaningful Human Control over Automated Driving Systems starting from existing philosophical theories of control and moral responsibility, and you will investigate the relationship between Meaningful Human Control and moral and legal responsibility for the behaviour of ADS. You will work closely with a traffic engineer and a behavioural scientist in the definition of meaningful human control; you will collaborate with lawyers and insurers in embedding meaningful human control into legal constructions and insurance schemes. You will publish in international academic journals. The 0.6 FTE appointment is negotiable depending on additional projects: the Philosophy section is very likely to offer teaching tasks to increase the scope of your appointment.

Functie-eisen

You have a PhD degree in philosophy, preferably in applied ethics or ethics of technology.
You are curious, enthusiastic, and result-oriented.
You have published your work in journals, books, or conference proceedings. You have experience or demonstrable capacity in conducting research in a multidisciplinary environment and in collaboration with public and private partners.

The TU Delft offers a customisable compensation package, a discount for health insurance and sport memberships, and a monthly work costs contribution. Flexible work schedules can be arranged. An International Children’s Centre offers childcare and an international primary school. Dual Career Services offers support to accompanying partners. Salary and benefits are in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities.
