Biochemical engineering, bioprocess technology, fermentation technology, (cell) system engineering

Job description

Biotechnology is pivotal to several grand societal challenges, posing new research questions in various directions including circular and biobased economy development, the sustainable production of renewable materials, specialty chemicals, pharmaceuticals and energy carriers. At the TU Delft we wish to strengthen our leadership in the research areas of bioprocess- and fermentation technology, down-stream processing and/or (cell) systems engineering with up to five staff positions. We are looking for talented individuals who use process engineering to design biotechnological innovations. We welcome applications from candidates who are eager to develop an independent research line based on creative, innovative research ideas. The positions come with funding for PhD students for ambitious projects.
Candidates are expected to contribute to our education activities, including the popular BSc and MSc programmes on Life Science and Technology and Molecular Science and Technology, the international, advanced (post-graduate) courses run by Biotech Academy Delft and online courses (MOOCs, such as on Industrial Biotechnology). We also contribute to programmes of other faculties such as Industrial Ecology, Sustainable Energy Technology, Engineering and Policy Analysis. We work with novel and digital education modules for blended education in alignment with the Extension School.

A Tenure Track, a process leading up to a permanent appointment with the prospect of becoming an Associate or full Professor, offers young, talented academics a clear and attractive career path. During the Tenure Track, you will have the opportunity to develop into an internationally acknowledged and recognised academic. We offer a structured career and personal development programme designed to offer individual academics as much support as possible. For more information about the Tenure Track and the personal development programme, please visit www.tudelft.nl/tenuretrack.
