We currently have a vacancy for a PhD position in servitisation of classic industrial firms in regulated networks, such as aviation. The main research question of this PhD assignment is: How should services be designed in an industrial company, moving from B2B to B2C in the context of a highly regulated industry?

The field of study is the aviation industry, and more specifically, the luggage environment (as a part of the TU Delft – Vanderlande cooperation). The objects of study are the knowledge, processes and technologies that the industry should develop to fulfil market needs and create a positive user experience on the servitisation of the existing product(s). To make this broad formulation a bit more pragmatic, we have formulated the following sub research question: How can an engineering-based industrial company (in the aviation industry) servitise its offerings ? Another related question is:
Which network stakeholders (internally and externally) need to be involved to develop these servitisation opportunities?

We are looking for a candidate who meets the following criteria:
• has a master degree in industrial design or a related field
• has strong research skills.

Fixed-term contract: 4 years.
