Job description

The position is related to a project focused on rational design of nanotopographies for bone implants. One of the goals of the project is to generate quantitative data on biomechanics of stem and bacterial cells attached on nanopatterned surfaces. The quantitative characterization will include cell-surface and cell-cell adhesion forces, cell stiffness and morphology as a function of various nanopattern features. The following state-of-the-art facilities and equipment will be available for the project: cleanroom for nanopatterns fabrication and biological lab for cell culture; equipment for nanopatterns fabrication (hot embossing/nanoimprinting system, Nanoscribe®, electron beam induced deposition); equipment for imaging and quantification of surfaces with attached cells (advanced bioAFM unit and hollow AFM cantilevers enabling single-cell force spectroscopy analyses, SEM, fluorescence microscope).

The position will be jointly at the departments of BioMechanical Engineering (BME) and Precision & Microsystems Engineering (PME) of the faculty of Mechanical, Maritime and Materials Engineering (3mE).
