The Department of Biomedical Engineering of the Eindhoven University of Technology has a vacancy for an Assistant Professor in (Bio)Medical Ultrasound Imaging.

Functieomschrijving

The Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) of the Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) is expanding its expertise in the field of Ultrasound Imaging, specifically in novel ultrasound functional imaging techniques.

We are looking for an expert, junior scientist who wants to take on this challenge in close collaboration with other departmental groups, national medical centers as well as industrial partners. We offer a full-time tenure-track position for an Assistant Professor, or Post-doc.

About us:

The TU/e is a leading Dutch University of Technology with a strong focus on health, energy and mobility. Within the health arena, several departments cooperate on topics such as Model-based clinical decision support, (Molecular) Imaging, Regenerative Medicine, Biosensing, and Chemical Biology, with a close link to medical centers and industry. The Department of Biomedical Engineering offers Bachelor's and Master's programs in Biomedical Engineering and Medical Engineering and a joint Master's program in Regenerative Medicine and Technology together with Utrecht University.

Position description:

Although research in all aspects of ultrasound image acquisition, photoacoustics, and US image analysis will be considered, we are especially interested in innovative (photo)acoustic functional imaging technologies, e.g., elastography, flow imaging, etc.,, that can be combined with other engineering methods such as modeling, and that fit in well with current departmental research activities. Furthermore, research in this topic should be medically oriented and sustainable by support from extramural funding.

The researcher will be selected on basis of scientific excellence during his or her PhD (and/or post-doc), potential to enhance and complement our current research, and capacity to strengthen our expertise in the area of Ultrasound Imaging.

Tasks in Research:

You should be an ambitious, promising researcher, with independent ideas, capable of working across disciplines and leading collaborative research within the laboratory for Photoacoustics & Ultrasound Eindhoven (PULS/e), embedded within the Cardiovascular Biomechanics group. During the tenure track, you should be able to establish an independent line of research with international exposure and reputation and prove your ability to attract research funding.

Tasks in Education:

You will be expected to contribute to high quality education of a diverse student body at both the undergraduate and graduate levels of the Department of Biomedical Engineering. Excellent communication skills and previous teaching experience are required. You will supervise BSc students, MSc students and PhD candidates.
