Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) has the following vacancy for a PhD student ÂMonitor, model and master the dynamics of yeast central metabolism (V50.2996) in the research group of Prof. Natal van Riel in the Computational Biology group at the Department of Biomedical Engineering.
Functieomschrijving
The PhD candidate at the TU/e will develop and apply dynamic models to integrate experimental data using parameter estimation. Data from our partners is used to calibrate and further develop differential equation models of yeast metabolism. Data include measurements of stable isotopically labeled tracers to quantify metabolic fluxes. In particular a novel methodology called ADAPT (Tieman et al, PMID 23935478) will be used. The model is applied to study hypotheses about metabolic regulation under dynamic physiological conditions.
Tasks and responsibilities:
Perform research in an interdisciplinary team of international scientistsDevelop kinetic models of yeast metabolismApply these models to quantitative measurementsProduce software tools to enable use in the wider scientific communityPublish findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at international scientific conferences
