The Faculty of Law invites applications for the position of Professor of Private International Law and Transnational Law.
We explicitly invite candidates who start at the Associate Professor level with the potential to become full professor via a Tenure Track.

Job description

  • responsible for, and teaching in, private international law and comparative law courses in the Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes;
  • conducting and supervising innovative research in the field of international and/or transnational private law;
  • supervision of academic staff and PhD researchers;
  • administrative duties;
  • acquisition of externally funded research.

The description of the chair is ‘Private International Law and Transnational Law’. The candidate has a broad mandate to focus on the consequences of Europeanisation and globalisation on private international law or substantive private law, from his or her own specific expertise. This expertise may be in the area of private law in general, corporate law, family law or procedural law.

Requirements

The successful candidate must have the following qualifications and qualities:

  • have a PhD and extensive research experience in the area of private international law and comparative law, as well as shown interest in research in the area of transnational private law;
  • proven experience with supervision of teaching and research;
  • experience in obtaining external research grants;
  • experience in supervision of PhD students;
  • extensive teaching and research experience in English;
  • willingness and ability to carry out administrative duties;
  • have a broad network.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 5 years.

The terms of employment for this position will correspond to the provisions set out in the Collective Labour Agreement of Dutch Universities (CAO-NU). A suitable salary offer will be proposed during the selection procedure. The successful candidate will be offered a temporary contract of 5 years for 0,50 to 1,00 fte with the prospect of a permanent position.

We explicitly invite candidates who start at the Associate Professor level with the potential to become full professor via a Tenure Track.

The gross salary depends on qualifications and experience, and ranges up to a maximum of € 7.766,00 per month by fulltime (salary scale H2, of the Collective Labour Agreement of the Dutch Universities).
