You contribute to teaching in the field of European Studies or Arts and Culture. Teaching duties include courses in the BA programmes of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences: the BA European Studies, and the BA Arts & Culture. Your teaching activities will take 100% of your contract time.

A Master’s degree in History, Political Science, European Studies, Political Philosophy, Arts and Literature studies, Science, Technology and Society studies (STS) or an alternative field that fits the teaching on offer in both BA programmes of the Faculty.
The ability to trigger student learning and participation in group discussions and to be an inspiring and stimulating supervisor. Previous experience in working with innovative, interdisciplinary learning approaches and problem-based teaching methods are an asset.
An excellent command of English (oral and written), the faculty’s main language of instruction.

We offer a 0.80 fte appointment as Teaching Assistant (Docent 4) for three years. The job description consists only of teaching activities (no research assignments).

Remuneration will be according to standard salary levels, depending on education and relevant work experience. This implies a gross monthly salary of about € 2.588,00 per month, scale level 10 (based on a full-time appointment). Each year the standard salary is supplemented with a holiday allowance of 8% and an end-of-year bonus of 8.3%.

The university’s relocation policy stipulates that the selected candidate must move to (the vicinity of) Maastricht. If not already living in Maastricht (or its direct surroundings), s/he will be eligible for an allowance for moving costs or for an allowance for alternative housing. Other secondary conditions include e.g. a pension scheme and partially paid parental leave as well as a shared office space and a PC.

The Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASoS) has about 250 staff members, and about 1,600 students. More than 76% of the students are non-Dutch (64 different nationalities). All programmes are offered in English and some are also offered in Dutch. FASoS offers two 3-year bachelor’s programmes: Arts and Culture and European Studies. It also offers eight different 1-year Master’s programmes and two 2-year research master’s programmes.
