Job description

The human microbiome plays an important role in cancers of the intestinal tract, such as colorectal, pancreatic, gastric, and esophageal cancers. However, still little is known about the role of the microbiome in people with a genetic predisposition for colorectal cancer such as patients with the Lynch syndrome. Increasingly available ‘omics and meta’omics data now allows us to study these interactions at an unprecedented resolution.

At Radboud University Medical Center (Radboudumc), we have unique access to rare patient cohorts including people with genetic predisposition for cancer, as well as biobanks, and public and proprietary databases of patient- and microbiome data. We exploit these resources to study the molecular mechanisms of disease and contribute to personalized healthcare and therapeutics.

We invite applications for a postdoctoral position to investigate the role of the human microbiome in intestinal tract cancers. You will be positioned within the Centre for Molecular and Biomolecular Informatics (CMBI), while working in close collaboration with clinicians and researchers who have access to the samples from our hospital. “Tumors of the Digestive Tract” is a Radboudumc Core Research Theme that integrates members from different departments. Thus, you will be part of a cross-disciplinary research team striving to do world-class science and answer questions about the role of the human microbiome in health and disease.
