Job description

You will be teaching (0.7 fte) in the bachelor’s and master’s programmes of Communication Science. For instance, in the bachelor’s programme you will contribute to a module on user experience (UX); in the master’s programme you will teach courses closely related to your research expertise. All teaching will be in English. You will develop a productive and viable research line on communication and technology, and play an active role in the acquisition of research funding (0.3 fte).

Requirements

You have a PhD in a field related to technology and communication, e.g., technical communication, human-computer interaction, or technology & organization. You have affinity with technological innovations and trends. Your research interest covers areas such as usability & UX, appropriation, adoption & implementation, robotics, content strategy & content management, or new media. You are an excellent teacher. You have a good track record in research, reflected in high-quality publications. You have experience in the acquisition of funding. We expect that you will be able to set up and maintain a network within the academic world and with relevant external organisations. You have a (near-)native mastery of the English language. Candidates are required to obtain the Basic Teaching Qualification (BKO).

Conditions of employment

The position will be at the assistant professor level. You will be employed on a two-year basis. Continuation after that period is a possibility.   The terms of employment are in accordance with the Dutch Collective Labor Agreement for Universities (CAO). Depending on relevant background and experience, the gross monthly salary on a full time basis ranges from 3,475 € to 5,405 € gross per month. Employees are also entitled to a holiday allowance of 8% of the gross annual salary and a year-end bonus of 8.3 %.
