Job description

You will work independently, cooperate with cognitive psychologists and human factors experts within the department of Cognitive Psychology and Ergonomics (CPE), and with technical and biomedical researchers at the University of Twente. Topics of research include human-machine interaction, and human performance. You will coordinate a bachelor course in Psychology, as well as develop and give a master course in a topic related to Human Factors. You will further supervise Bsc and/or MSc students on topics related to your research and beyond.

Requirements

You hold a Ph.D. in human factors-cognitive ergonomics, or in cognitive psychology/cognitive (neuro)science with a serious interest in human factors research. Optimally, you bring a developed theme or application domain within Human Factors (like VR/AR or ambient intelligence). You have a track record with international peer-reviewed publications, and preferably industrial contacts. You have demonstrable statistical and methodological skills and advanced programming expertise (e.g., Python, R, and C++). You may also be familiar with eye movement tracking and physiological measures of behavior. You have experience in teaching at the university level and hold, or are interested in acquiring, the UTQ (BKO) teaching qualification. Knowledge of Dutch is not required, but you are fluent in English. Preferably, you have experience in acquiring and doing research in international collaborations.

Conditions of employment

You are appointed full-time (38 hours a week) as an Assistant Professor. Initially, your appointment is for 2 years. Depending on an evaluation after 24 months, the appointment can be extended. The gross monthly salary will be in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities. Depending on relevant background and experience, the gross monthly salary on a full time basis ranges from € 3.475,- to € 4.757,- per month. Employees are also entitled to a holiday allowance of 8% of the gross annual salary and an 8.3% end-of-year bonus. The starting date will be November 1st, 2017, or as soon as possible thereafter.
