Job description

Teaching: The new staff member will take his/her part in the teaching tasks of the cluster. The main educational duties will be performed in the Chemical Engineering curriculum. The candidate would spend approximately 20-30% of his/her time on educational duties. We offer a University Teaching Qualification (UTQ) training program.

Research: The new staff member will be able to start up a completely new research group within the cluster based on his/her experience and ideas. The staff member will be expected to attract attaining funding from national and international funding agencies and by forming partnerships with industry. The staff member will be the main supervisor for junior researchers (PDEng, PhD and PD positions) and will also supervise MSc and BSc students in their research projects.

Organization: The new staff member will be expected to take up a shared responsibility for the organization of the MST cluster and to participate within the organisation of education and research within the faculty, research institutes and the university as a whole. The MST cluster is part of the department of Science and Technology.

Requirements

We are looking for an enthusiastic colleague with a relevant Doctoral degree (PhD) and research and teaching experience in the field of membrane science and technology. You have established yourself, or you have the potential to establish yourself, as a leader in the international field of Membrane Process Technology. You have affinity with and experience in working in a multidisciplinary team and international environment. You have a proven capability in attracting external research funding, have good teaching skills, and have obtained the UTQ qualification or are willing to obtain this qualification. You are a good organizer and stimulating mentor, with the ability to set up and run an independent research group. You are a team player, who is looking forward to work with colleagues from the MST cluster in interdisciplinary projects.

Conditions of employment

For Assistant/Associate position:
We offer a challenging position in an inspiring environment. You will be appointed in a full-time position (38 hours/week). The salary scale, depending on your experience, extends to a maximum of € 6.438,- gross per month based upon the job profile. The University of Twente offers additional attractive employment conditions.


For Full Professor position:
We offer a challenging position in an inspiring environment. You will be appointed in a full-time position (38 hours/week). The salary scale, depending on your experience, extends to a maximum of € 9.375,- gross per month based upon the job profile.
