PDEng Design Project – Smart services for facility management using IoT and Big Data
The emergence of sensors, IoT and ‘smart’ buildings and the increasingly rich data that becoming available in real time allow facility services providers like Asito to redesign their services and operations. On demand, proactive and even predictive services can become a reality. Moreover, additional services can be offered. However, this digital transformation requires a new architecture including alternative ways of organizing and measuring performance. Effective sensor processing, data analytics and planning algorithms need to be designed and the alternative ways of organizing need to be designed and evaluated.
The PDEng will focus on designing and IoT/Data analytics architecture that enables (sensor) data cleaning and storage, (self-service) data analytics
The PDengs will operate as a team closely connected to the Asito ICT department and work closely with another PDeng candidate that has already started working closely with the Asito marketing and business development department. At the University of Twente the PDEngs will be hosted at the IEBIS (Industrial Engineering and Business Informations Systems department, school of Behavior, Management and Social Science) and be connected to and co-supervised by faculty of the school of Construction Engineering and school of Electrical Engeineering and Computer Science.
