The Department of Methodology & Statistics teaches courses in methods and statistics in all programs of the Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences at the Utrecht University and at the University College Utrecht. This includes undergraduate courses and a minor in Methods and Statistics. Moreover, the Department is involved in the research masters offered by the Graduate School of Social and Behavioural Sciences, and it is the only department in the Netherlands which offers a 2 year (English) research master which is exclusively focused on methods and statistics for the social and behavioural sciences.
Research by faculty and PhD students includes both the development of new techniques in areas such as methodology, multilevel modelling, latent variable analysis, longitudinal analysis and applied Bayesian statistics, and the application of these techniques to the study of phenomena in the social and behavioural sciences.
The Department of Methods and Statistics, part of the Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences, has job opening for two fulltime postdocs.The positions spans 40% teaching and 60% research time. You are supposed to write and submit a research proposal for individual external funding within the duration of appointment (e.g. VENI, ERC). In case of acquiring external funding, the duration of position will be renewed. The proposal should fit in the departmental research program as described in ‘The mission statement M&S’. You will be required to teach graduate and undergraduate courses in both methods and statistics.

- Recently obtained, or within short time obtaining, a Ph.D degree
- Track record to be competitive in acquiring external research funds.
- Demonstrable teaching skills. Courses are taught in both Dutch and English.
Conditions of employment
We offer two full-time postdoc positions for one year. After a positive evaluation the appointmen will be extended with two years.
The gross salary depends on qualifications and experience and ranges between € 2427,- and €4462.- per month for a full time appointment (salary scale 10 or 11, Dutch Universities Conditions of Employment).
The salary is supplemented with an annual holiday pay of 8% and an end-of-year bonus of 8,3% per year. Other secondary conditions include e.g. a pension scheme, partially paid parental leave, and flexible employment conditions. More information: terms of employment.
