Job description

You will be employed in the Division of Psychology of the Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences, Utrecht University, specifically the Department of Clinical Psychology. Your research will be conducted and needs to fit within the context of a research programme that has received an excellent evaluation in the VSNU research review. The programme focuses on anxiety-related disorders, including posttraumatic stress disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder. Part of the research is experimental and laboratory-based. Another part of the research is conducted in the clinical context. You will also be teaching in the bachelor’s degree programme in Psychology and the international master’s degree programme in Clinical Psychology.

Tasks The position involves 60% teaching activities and 40% research time. The core tasks include:

  • independently coordinating and providing various forms of teaching in the field of Clinical Psychology, including the supervision of clinical internships;
  • supervising PhD candidates as well as master’s and bachelor’s degree students in their research activities;
  • participating in the experimental psychopathology programme;
  • carrying out and supervising research within the programme;
  • publication of research findings in major international scientific journals;
  • contributing to the acquisition of substantial external research funding for the benefit of the research programme.

Requirements

We are looking for someone who:

  • has a PhD degree in the field of Clinical Psychology and/or Experimental Psychopathology;
  • has a relevant clinical registration and extensive clinical experience;
  • has excellent teaching skills, as evidenced by positive teaching assessments, and experience in designing and coordinating academic courses in clinical psychology;
  • has scientific creativity and productivity, as shown by recent (international) peer-reviewed publications;
  • has a strong record of research grant acquisition and international collaboration and visibility;
  • has experience with supervising junior staff members
  • has an eye for the modernisation of teaching methods and is prepared to contribute (within a team) to the optimisation of the quality of teaching;
  • holds a Basic Teaching Qualification (BKO) or is willing to acquire this qualification in the near future;
  • masters English at an academic level and Dutch as well or is willing to learn Dutch. We expect a relevant level of competence within two years of taking up the appointment;
  • is effective and efficient, has excellent social skills, and is a team player.

Conditions of employment

We offer a full-time position for one year. Upon a positive performance the appointment will be followed by a permanent position. Your salary will range from a minimum of € 4,815 to a maximum of € 6,438 per month based on a full-time appointment (i.e. salary scale 13/14 according to the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities).

In addition, we offer attractive and flexible secondary terms of employment such as an annual holiday pay of 8%, an end-of-year bonus of 8.3% per year and partially paid parental leave.
