The Department of Earth Sciences at Utrecht University has a Postdoc position on methane hydrate dynamics for thirty months. Are you interested in this job? Then please read the full profile and apply.

Job description

The Department of Earth Sciences currently seeks a highly-motivated, high-potential applicant for a position as a postdoctoral researcher to develop a model for methane hydrate dynamics.

The research will be executed in the context of the Netherlands Earth System Science Centre. Methane hydrate dynamics is governed by the balance between methane production and consumption, gas and solute transport, and phase changes. Methane release from hydrates has been suggested to have caused the recurrently occurring hyperthermals, but the mechanisms and time-scales involved are poorly known. The aim of this project is to develop new modelling strategies to further our understanding.
