The Department of Equine Sciences is looking for an enthusiastic young veterinarian with an interest and, preferably, some experience in equine reproduction. The ideal candidate is motivated to develop skills and build up experience in the field of equine reproduction. Some experience in (equine) veterinary practice is an advantage, but not essential. The candidate will work at the Equine Reproduction unit, and will devote most of his/her working hours to patient care and the related patient-oriented teaching and administration. He or she will provide regular, but not extensive, clinical education in the Master’s phase of the veterinary program. If necessary and after an appropriate acclimatization period, he/she will assist with evening, night and weekend duties.

Requirements

You are a veterinarian with a demonstrable interest in equine reproduction, a strong motivation and a positive attitude. The University Equine Clinic (UKP) strives for quality, customer service and efficiency, and the successful candidate will whole heartedly embrace these priorities. You are able to work in a team, and possess good communication skills.

Conditions of employment

We offer a temporary contract for the period of one year. Dependent on good performance, motivation and the future needs of the group the possibility may arise for the candidate to continue his/her development in the form of a residency in equine reproduction (with registration via either the European College of Animal Reproduction and/or the American College of Theriogenologists).

The salary is € 2,588 gross per month for a full-time contract, depending partly on previous experience (scale 10, step 0, CLA Netherlands Universities). You will also receive an 8% holiday allowance, and an 8.3% end-of-year bonus.

Utrecht University also has an attractive package of employment benefits, which help maintain a good balance between work and private life (including a generous entitlement to (paid) leave), opportunities for development and an excellent pension plan. For more information, see: Working at Utrecht University.
