A full Professor of Education Sciences who will lead the chair group Education Sciences (EDU) at Wageningen University & Research.

As head of the group, the new chair holder is expected to lead by example, contributing to the development of EDU research and education, stimulating innovative research, further strengthening the position of the group in national and international networks of research, maintaining close contacts with other universities, research institutes and managing the group internal processes and relations in an effective and constructive way.

Functie-eisen

To accomplish this, we expect the new chair holder to have:
  • A PhD degree in Education Sciences or other relevant social sciences field;
  • An excellent track record in the field of Education Sciences or other relevant social sciences field, and an internationally recognised publication profile;
  • A future-oriented vision that supports the mission of the chair group and identifies with the quality of life and the interdisciplinary sustainability-oriented mission of Wageningen University & Research;
  • Affinity with and experience in educational innovation in university settings;
  • A strong national, European, and global network of collaboration (both in and outside academia);
  • A proven record in acquisition of substantial research funds from different sources;
  • Outstanding and motivating teaching, supervising, and course development qualities both at a BSc, MSc and PhD level and the capacity to motivate students from different educational programmes;
  • Experience in management and an inspiring, collegial, and effective shared leadership style, characterized by the passion to develop people, team building, and creating synergy while acknowledging diversity.

Arbeidsvoorwaarden

Besides a competitive salary, we offer a number of additional benefits, such as an end-of-year extra month, a holiday allowance and a pension at the pension fund ABP.

The chair group EDU is part of the Social Sciences Group (SSG) of Wageningen University & Research (WUR). The mission of the group is to provide education and to conduct scientific research in the field of learning processes, skills and competences in different contexts (University and Higher Education; Sustainable Development; Business Organizations). Next to academic teaching and research in the domain of education sciences, the EDU group provides courses on academic and professional skills, and is responsible for the training of grade-two qualified teachers.

In its research programme, the chair group develops and participates in living labs, i.e. user-driven, interdisciplinary projects on sustainability innovation in education, both in WUR as well as in the wider setting of the four Technical Universities and other education and learning contexts in the Netherlands and internationally. In September 2015 the group has been assessed by an international peer review committee that qualified the research quality, relevance to society and viability as excellent.
