The candidate will participate in the Data Science Enabling Technology (DSET) programme funded by the Amsterdam Institute of Advanced Metropolitan Solutions (AMS) and Wageningen University & Research. The main task is to implement a 'city simulator' which is an Agent Based Modelling platform targeted to simulating urban processes in which human behaviour and human decision-making are crucial. This not only involves coding but also formalisation of concepts into efficient algorithms using state-of-the-art ABM development environments. We expect the candidate to closely cooperate with the researchers working in this project.

We are looking for a Scientific Programmer at MSc level who has experience in data analyses, Java and or Python, GIS, Agent Based Modelling (ABM). Affinity with the spatial modelling and research is essential.

Further requirements: good oral and written communication skills in English and the willingness to cooperate in writing papers and presenting research.

We offer:

A full-time (38 hours per week) appointment (part-time negotiable) for 1 year (a 1 year extension could be possible) commencing as soon as possible. Maximum salary amounts € 4084,- a month (gross, scale 10) based on full-time employment. Salary depends on relevant experience and knowledge.
