Job description

You will be responsible for starting a new research program within the field of abiotic stress research in plants, and will contribute to teaching on this topic, and in Plant Sciences in general. You are asked to formulate and successfully develop a research line that addresses the topic of plant stress responses at several organizational levels, including molecular, cellular, genetic and physiological aspects. You will be expected to develop a personal profile as well as work in a team.

Requirements

You are an enthusiastic and highly competent scientist, with a PhD in Plant Science, or a related discipline. You already have some years of post-doctoral research experience, a proven publication record showing significant and original contributions in international journals. You have good communication skills, preferably with experience in teaching and student mentoring and supervision at postgraduate level. You are willing and capable to teach a diverse range of Plant Science topics to BSc and MSc level students. Teaching experience is certainly an advantage. You have the track record, international network and ambition to obtain competitive national and international funding for your research line. Experience in writing of successful research proposals is an advantage, or a skill that you must quickly develop.

Conditions of employment
A 0,8 to 1,0 fte position as assistant professor, and a Tenure Track career trajectory. We provide a stimulating environment for science, with commitment to help you develop in the career track.

We offer you a temporary contract, which, based on performance, can lead to a permanent employment contract. Gross maximum salary per month: €4.757 (scale 11), based on full time employment and dependent on expertise and experience

At the Laboratory of Plant Physiology we study plant responses to their environment. We investigate how stress tolerance and plant performance in adverse environmental conditions are guided by underlying molecular, cellular and physiological processes. We seek to complement and strengthen the group with a new research line in abiotic stress physiology.
