Post-doc
Upon malignant transformation, tumor cells upregulate the synthesis of sialic acid sugar-carrying glycans (sialoglycans). These sialic acids not only promote tumor cell growth but also protect them from recognition and eradication by immune cells. In this project novel human Siglec blocking mAbs will be tested in functional immunological assays and IHC in healthy donors and cancer patients.

For the ROI laboratory we are also looking for two PhD candidates: PhD 'Metabolism modulation with immunotherapy and radiotherapy' and PhD 'Understanding cGAS activation to improve Immuno-radiotherapy combinations'. See our vacancies on our website.

The preferred Post-doc candidate will have a PhD degree in biomedical sciences (biology/immunology) or equivalent and experience in cellular human Immunology.

Upon commencement of employment we require a certificate of conduct (Verklaring Omtrent het Gedrag, VOG) and there will be, depending on the type of job, a screening based on the provided cv. Radboud university medical center's HR Department will apply for this certificate on your behalf.

The Radboud Institute for Molecular Life Sciences (RIMLS) and the RadboudInstitute of Health Sciences (RIHS) in the Netherlands are leading European research schools providing an outstanding research and educational setting at the RadboudUMC. Radiotherapy & OncoImmunology lab (Dept. of Radiation Oncology)
In the newly established ROI lab, ~ 25 researchers aim at better understanding tumor cell interactions with the immune system using imaging, molecular-, cell biological- and immunological- techniques in relation to cancer therapies, especially radiotherapy. Research is centred around the development of in situ cancer vaccines combining local tumor ablation and dendritic cell (DC) activation through immune adjuvants. In addition, the interplay between immune- and tumor cells is studied within the tumor microenvironment (TME) and modulation of the TME on the efficacy of treatment. An important activity of the department is the translation of basic research into clinical application.
