Job description

The Research Support Office (RSO) of the Faculty of Humanities is looking for an experienced Funding Advisor on the broad spectrum of Humanities Research at Utrecht University. As Senior Advisor, you will support and advise researchers with identifying relevant funding possibilities and provide integral research proposal support (pre-award).

Your tasks include (but are not limited to):

  • offering relevant information on funding possibilities and -conditions;
  • providing solicited and unsolicited advice on non-scientific and scientific parts of research proposals;
  • assisting researchers in writing funding proposals for individual grants and consortium proposals (NL and EU) with UU as partner or coordinator;
  • supporting with proposal budgets;
  • advising on funding rules and contract preparations with funders and consortium partners;
  • contributing to information-sessions and workshops on proposal writing for applicants;
  • identifying possibilities concerning valorization opportunities (Faculty and University level).

As member of our team of professionals you have your own responsibilities and tasks as departmental contact person. You will work within the Research Support Office (RSO) of our Faculty. The RSO team comprises 5 colleagues, including the Department Manager of the Research Support Chain.

Requirements

We are looking for a candidate who has:

  • a University degree (dissertation is a plus);
  • at least three years of relevant experience with research support at a University or other higher education institution;
  • proven knowledge of (financial) funding rules and experience with contract negotiations e.g. NWO and EU;
  • awareness of organizational roles and dealing with different interests;
  • excellent command of the English language in speech and writing (command of Dutch is not required but preferred);
  • demonstrable experience with hands on research proposal support with deadlines (being able to deal with time pressure) and you are result-oriented, can work independently, be proactive and take pleasure in being highly organized in a central but supportive role.

Conditions of employment

We offer a 0.8 - 1.0 FTE position in a challenging work environment for one year, with a trial period of two months. The position is initially temporary for one year and can become permanent after a positive evaluation. When you already have a permanent position at Utrecht University you will keep that status. To be considered for a permanent position you are expected to learn Dutch, when this is not already the case.

Depending on qualifications and experience of the candidate, the salary for a full-time employment will range between €3,637 and €4,978 (scale 11 of the Collective Labour Agreement Dutch Universities) gross per month for a full-time employment. Utrecht University offers a pension scheme, a holiday allowance of 8% per year, an end-of-year bonus of 8.3% and flexible employment conditions.
